this entry will detail what i've read and will read in 2008.
I've been reading a lot lately, and I could probably actually do that fifty book challenge, so here's a list (both the legit and guilty pleasure reads) of what I've read in 2008. In this post, give me book suggestions!

  1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (I plan to re-read the entire series from start to finish by) by JK Rowling. *
  2. Gossip Girl - Because I'm Worth It by Cecily von Ziegesar *
  3. Gossip Girl - I Like It Like That by Cecily von Ziegesar *
  4. Every Visible Thing by Lisa Carey
  5. You Suck by Christopher Moore
  6. Too Much of Nothing by Michael Scott Moore
Six down, about 46 to go!
Asterisks mean that it was total guilty pleasure reading. Yes, I enjoy trashy young adult novels, and I am the biggest Harry Potter dork you will ever meet. Or at least one of the coolest.

Those books were read all within the last week, by the way. I need to get a library account (maybe talk to someone at the library a little bit more about it... ) or pay off one of the kids fine's so I can use their account. I also need to start buying more books. I don't have much to do except read, so I might as well go all out.

I also need to convince someone with a check card to help me renew my LJ paid account. I have the cash for it, but do to being super irresponsible with check cards, I don't have one for the time being. It's been a few hours already, and I already miss my paid account status =/ P.S. I also joined socialvibe.com. Someone on my friends list joined this a week ago, and won a 20$ gift card to MAC. I'm jealous and want to win something, too.

I have a library card that works at all libraries in the twin cities and surrounding areas.
I hope you're liking "It's Kind of a funny story" so far. Umm, I'm a nerd and really enjoy the Sandman series. that's like 11 "books", but idk if you're into graphic novels. the storylines are good though.
The "His Dark Materials" series is long and interesting. I liked the Royal Diaries, especially Princess Elizabeth I and Marie Antoinette. "Wicked"? "Freakonomics" is very interesting with all the stats in it.
"My Dog Marley" or is it "Marley and Me" is a cute book about a man and his disobedient dog.
Anything in particular you are looking for? I can probably find it...

Read Lolita, by Vladimir Nabokov. And Sombrero Fallout, by Richard Brautigan (or anything by him, really). American Gods, by Neil Gaiman.
You might like Jemima J, by Jane Green, or The Thin Pink Line, by Lauren Somebody with a long last name beginning with W.
Did you ever read the Shopaholic books, by Sophie Kinsella?
lindseyyy ann.[info]likeforeverago on February 7th, 2008 07:43 pm (UTC)
i read Shopaholic about two weeks ago, and I really didn't like it. which is weird, because everyone told me it would be up my alley and such.

Which one did you read?
And "everyone" telling you it would be up your alley makes me feel better about being wrong.

the first one, and i just hated the main character, i wanted to shoot her. like, jump inside of the book, and literally shoot her.

Hah. See, I never bother getting attached to characters in books like that -- purely mindless amusement. The worse they are, the more entertained I am.

I can't even tell you how much I enjoy bad writing.

I just finished a book called The Intruders. It's kind of short, but it's still a pretty good book.
What I've been doing is just looking around amazon, looking up a book I know I like, then looking at the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" thing.

Work is incredibly boring so I've been trying to keep myself occupied with books. Consider the Lobster is a pretty good book which is kind of along the same line as Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs but a little bit smarter.

The Man Who Loved Only Numbers is a great book as well and is the reason I lurve math.

And I just finished Ubik by Phillip K. Dick. Boy do I love Dick. Studying Dick, staring at Dick, thinking about all the cleverness of Dick. Though, one time one of the managers saw me with Dick and told me I wasn't supposed to have Dick out. [all boyish puns aside, Ubik is my trippy sci-fi psuedo-kafkaesque novel of choice].

Oh, and when hanging with Ms. Glynis Weitz, she showed me a book she found at borders: Star Trek meets X-Men!!!!! I totally need to get a hold of that book...

Oh, and if you haven't yet: The Hitchhiker's Guide books. I recently started rereading them.

I read those the second week of first semester. They were delicious.
